Exploratory Tests on a Forward-Mounted Overwing Engine Installation

چکیده
SUMMARY Wind-tunnel tests have been made to assess the aerodynamic potential of an overwing installation for fan-jet engines on a typlcal modern transport aeroplane. Low-speed tests on a complete model with free-flow nacelles and tests at higher speed on a partial model incorporating a blown jet are described; it is concluded that the lift-dependent drag associated with such an installation would be significantly greater than that of a conventional underwing engine installation.

Measured Engine Installation Effects of Four Civil Transport Airplanes
INTRODUCTION The Federal Aviation Administration's Integrated Noise Model (INM) is one of the primary tools for land use planning around airports [1]. The INM currently calculates airplane noise lateral attenuation using the methods contained in the Society of Automotive Engineer's Aerospace Information Report No. 1751 (SAE AIR 1751) [2]. Researchers have noted that improved lateral attenuation...

This paper presents a feed forward back-propagation neural network model to predict the retained tensile strength and design chart in order to estimation of the strength reduction factors of nonwoven geotextiles due to installation process. A database of 34 full-scale field tests were utilized to train, validate and test the developed neural network and regression model. The results show that t...

OBJECTIVE The Lower Anchor and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system was introduced in vehicles made after September 1, 2002 and intended to make installation of rear and forward-facing child safety seats easier. Due to the lack of rear impact testing of RFCRS required per the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), the purpose of this study was to explore the effects, if any, of installa...
متن کاملAeroacoustics of Propulsion Airframe Integration: Overview of NASA’s Research
The integration of propulsion and airframe is fundamental to the design of an aircraft system. Many considerations influence the integration, such as structural, aerodynamic, and maintenance factors. In regard to the acoustics of an aircraft, the integration can have significant effects on the net radiated noise. Whether an engine is mounted above a wing or below can have a significant effect o...
متن کاملNovel Air Flow Meter for an Automobile Engine Using a Si Sensor with Porous Si Thermal Isolation
An air flow meter for measuring the intake air of an automobile engine is presented. It is based on a miniaturized silicon thermal mass flow sensor using a thick porous Si (Po-Si) layer for local thermal isolation from the Si substrate, on which the sensor active elements are integrated. The sensor is mounted on one side of a printed circuit board (PCB), on the other side of which the readout a...
